Is FuelPass Still Active in Sri Lanka?
Is Sri Lanka's Fuel Pass still running? The honest answer: it depends when you ask — and this page explains why.
A crisis tool, not a permanent institution
The National Fuel Pass was built for the 2022 fuel emergency. Its job was rationing during extreme shortage. As imports resumed and queues disappeared, the core justification faded. Crisis systems like this typically wind down, go dormant, or get folded into normal administration.
How to check the current status
- Visit fuelpass.gov.lk — if registration and QR services are live, it's active.
- Check the Ministry of Power and Energy announcements for fuel distribution policy.
- Local filling stations know immediately — quota scanning at the pump is the ground truth.
What we don't do here
We don't publish a "yes/no" status because it would go stale. Government portals change without notice, and a wrong answer here could send you on a wasted trip. Check the primary sources above.
If it's dormant
Your old QR code is likely just a souvenir. Fuel purchases revert to normal — no quota, no scan. Keep an eye on official channels in case of future shortages; the infrastructure could be reactivated.
